DT120's Panorama trial: how to read the anxiety results

2026-10-19 ยท 3 min read

On 14 September, Definium Therapeutics reported results from Panorama, a Phase 3 trial of its investigational lysergide tablet, DT120, in adults with generalized anxiety disorder. The company announcement reports a 5.1-point advantage over placebo on the trial's main anxiety measure at 12 weeks.

What Panorama compared

The trial presentation accounts for 245 participants: 96 received 100 micrograms, 52 received 50 micrograms and 97 received placebo. The lower-dose arm was not designed or powered for statistical comparisons. Its results do not establish that one dose is optimal for routine care.

The ClinicalTrials.gov record, NCT06809595, describes a randomized study with a 12-week controlled period and a 40-week open-label extension. The extension is a different comparison: participants can receive further active treatment, rather than remaining in the original placebo-controlled period.

Reading the headline number

The sponsor reports a 9.8-point improvement in the 100-microgram group's Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale score, compared with 4.7 points for placebo. The difference between groups is 5.1 points, not 9.8. These are group averages, not a prediction for an individual patient.

The announcement also reports adverse events in 94.8% of the 100-microgram group and 62.9% of the placebo group. Its event reporting includes expected drug effects; commonly reported events included altered perception, nausea and headache. Participants were monitored for at least eight hours on dosing day.

Questions beyond the first results

Blinding is a particular challenge here. The sponsor's presentation says 91% of participants in the 50-microgram arm and 95% in the 100-microgram arm correctly guessed they had received active drug. Our placebo and blinding guide explains why treatment expectations matter when interpreting psychedelic research.

As checked on 19 October, the registry lists the study as active but not recruiting and has no posted results section. The numerical findings above come from the sponsor's announcement and presentation. See our guide to trial records and results for that distinction.

In its September announcement, Definium anticipated filing a US drug application in the first half of 2027. That is a company plan, not an approval decision or a treatment-access date.
